28. Appendix: who can do what

If you do not see a screen or button from this manual, it is almost always your role — or the module is switched off.

The table below shows the default rights of the four standard roles. Since access control (top menu Access, chapter 20) this is the starting point, not the law: your administrator can deviate per role and per module, create custom roles and give a user extra access. Besides the role, two more fine-grained rules apply: per project you can give someone extra permissions (logging hours, seeing financial data, changing rates, approving hours — chapter 10), and per organization the switching on or off of modules determines which screens exist at all (chapter 27).
